DJ Dawnix has been passionate about music and DJing since 1995. At just 15 years old, he landed his first role in a nightclub—as a busboy. Despite being underage, his determination and curiosity set him apart. After hours, he would stay behind, speaking with staff about DJing and practicing on weekends at a friend’s house using Technics 1200 turntables—back when pitch control required careful manual adjustment with knobs to achieve perfect beat matching.

His big break came unexpectedly. One day, the club’s resident DJ asked him to fill in for a Saturday night. Whether it was a test or an attempt to challenge his confidence, DJ Dawnix seized the opportunity. At the time, he had mostly been playing CDs, though his true passion was—and still is—vinyl.

Determined to prepare, he made a quick trip to a local record shop, using money he had saved from work. Unsure how to select music for a nightclub crowd, he admitted to the shop owner that it would be his first time playing live and that his taste leaned more toward classic house. Recognizing his potential, the owner curated a selection of records, playing several tracks for him. Impressed and inspired, DJ Dawnix purchased the entire crate.

That Saturday night, while the other DJ lingered at the bar expecting failure, DJ Dawnix took control of the booth. What followed was a defining moment—he delivered a performance that exceeded expectations and silenced any doubts. From that night forward, he established himself as one of the standout DJs on the nightclub strip, eventually performing at some of the area’s largest venues.

I am DJ Dawnix—and this is my story.
